Laura Roark

Head of School


Laura C. Roark is a Montessori educator, and trainer with over 30 years of experience. Ms. Roark is currently an AMI Elementary Auxiliary Trainer. She has previously served as Head of School for two Montessori schools and has over 14 years of Montessori teaching experience in the 3-6 and 6-12 age levels. She has been an examiner and guest lecturer for AMI elementary courses in training centers around the world, including the United States, Kenya, South Africa, Thailand, Czech Republic, France, Mexico, India, Argentina, China, and Taiwan. She holds the AMI 3-6 and 6-12 diplomas, and the Adolescent Orientation Course Certificate. Ms. Roark is a graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Mexico and holds a degree in Geology.

Denise Weston

Almost Home Director


Denise is a fourth generation educator who chose a Montessori path for her three sons over thirty years ago. Denise was drawn to Montessori first by the unique architecture of Montessori Children’s House and School in Dallas, but became fascinated by the beauty of the didactic Montessori materials and Montessori’s thorough research. Montessori directly contrasted Denise’s personal education in the Detroit Public Schools and she became involved as an assistant and then as a Guide because of her desire for an education of peace for her children and grandchildren.


Denise has been part of the Waypoint Community as an Elementary Guide from 1999 to 2005, and as the Director of Almost Home from 2007 to the present. Denise holds a Master of Education in Secondary Education and Reading from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, the AMI Elementary Diploma from the Washington Montessori Institute in Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a history minor, from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

Tricia Tuscana

Financial Director


Tricia has over 37 years' experience in accounting for both corporations and nonprofits. Tricia holds a Bachelor of Arts Accounting from the Forbes School of Business & Technology where she graduated summa cum laude. Having worked with the school from 2003 to 2017, Tricia returns to Waypoint with a great understanding of the school's legacy, history, and culture, in addition to taking wonderful care of the finances. Tricia enjoys reading, spending time with her three grandchildren, her two children, and doing 5Ks with her pup, Anny.

Carlos Lopez
Facilities Director


Carlos and his wife Mariana have been married for 17 years. They have 3 children, Carlos 16 years old, Jason 11 years old, and Daniel 18 months. Carlos is a talented and energetic young man who has experience working in general building maintenance and repairs.

Pamela Pospisil

Office Recordkeeping


Pamela has over 42 years of Administrative office experience. She worked in various industries from Directory publishing, Oil & Gas, to Luxury Home Building. Pamela enjoys gardening, walking, movies, quality time with her children, grandson, and friends.


Joined Waypoint Montessori in 2009 and 2015.

Fawzia Hassan

Administrative Assistant


Fawzia holds a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s College in Karachi, Pakistan. Next, she got admission into Law School but very soon realized that her passion was being with children and that’s what drove her to Montessori. Fawzia was born and grew up in Karachi, being the youngest in a family of 5. She writes, “I have always been the one who pushes limits, but that’s what I consider “the spice of life”. This is what I brought with me when I joined the school in 1993 and worked as a primary guide for 27 years, serving and absolutely enjoying my time with the children. Now I have returned to work in administration and so my work and my life’s journey continues."

Paloma Salas

Front Desk Administrator and Purchasing


Paloma is an art educator with six years of experience working with local education nonprofits. She was granted a research fellowship funded by the National Science Foundation to produce culturally-responsive research in developmental science at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2021. The following year her research poster, "Latinx Mothers' Perceptions of Home Chaos, Acculturation and Parenting Stress" was awarded by the university. She currently develops inquiry-based learning material for Dallas Contemporary, where she also leads public and school tours. She has been the visual arts specialist and a primary substitute at Waypoint Montessori for two years. This year Paloma brings her spirit and passion for the Montessori pedagogy and her considerable computing skills to the front desk as administrator and purchasing.


Paloma was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and has lived in Barcelona, Spain during an artist residency. She is completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science at the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at University of Texas at Dallas.
