Story and Campus

Waypoint Montessori’s founding class, 1971

Our Story

Established in 1971, Waypoint Montessori is an AMI Recognized Montessori school serving children ages 14 months through 12 years (6th grade).

Waypoint Montessori opened as the Montessori Academy of Grapevine in 1971 at the request of interested, local parents. After only one year, the school outgrew its original facility in Grapevine, Texas, and relocated to a property in Southlake, where it remained for 13 years. By 1986, the school’s increasing enrollment precipitated the move to our current location in Colleyville, Texas.

For fifty years, Waypoint Montessori has maintained its focus on the child through high fidelity implementation of time-tested Montessori practices.

Waypoint Montessori is well-known for its dedicated and highly qualified faculty and staff. Guides attend a rigorous graduate program at an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training center and are members in good standing of AMI. In addition to their academic accomplishments, it is the heart and spirit of this special team that sustains the tradition of excellence found at Waypoint Montessori. Their dedication to the children, support for the parents, and synergy as a group make them exemplary models of Montessori philosophy.

Our Campus

Along with its rich history, and world-class staff Waypoint Montessori is located on a one-of-a kind campus. Nestled on nine wooded acres in Colleyville, Texas, Waypoint is halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. Beginning with just two buildings, the campus has expanded over the years to include approximately nine acres and eleven buildings.

Each of the classrooms at Waypoint functions as an independent unit equipped with a fully functional kitchen, accessible bathroom facilities, and dedicated outdoor space. The Waypoint Art, Music, and Spanish classrooms offer students purposefully-crafted, dedicated spaces in which to learn and create.

Winding through the acres at Waypoint Montessori, students have access to three playgrounds, a musical playscape, classroom gardens, and ample outdoor space to observe and explore.
